Tournaments & Teams

While everyone is learning we will host internal tournaments where our developing teams will play against each other, our more experienced players will join to offer advice and challenge. As we develop as a club and individual paddlers we will begin to enter more tournaments, and host our own.

Under 18’s – We currently have one Under 18’s team and we intend to form at least one more. Our under 18’s teams will be open to boys and girls.

Under 14’s – As with the Under 18’s, we currently have one Under 14’s team and we hope to form two more, the teams will be open to boys and girls.

Girls – There are additional tournaments available for women & girls, currently we have one Women’s team, we will look to form a second team for development.

Open – There may be opportunities for some to play for our mixed age and gender open teams at higher standard tournaments.

Equipment

You don’t need to buy any kayaking equipment, but over time you might want to buy some personal equipment like neoprene shorts, a helmet, buoyancy aid and clothing to wear on the water outdoors.

If you’d like to know more about the various different types of equipment and how much it costs – you can read more yma. For more information about what clothing to wear outdoors, you can read more yma.

Coaching

A five level training programme will be followed for you to learn kayaking, each level will include a number of skills to master, with each level building on skills learnt in previous steps.

Our coaches will help you master each of these skills, and you will help each other practice.

We will teach you game play tactics and practise different defence and attack methods, there will be both wet and dry lessons.

We are looking for some parents to assist us with coaching and running sessions, let us know if you’re interested in more information!

Costs

Annual membership cost is £35 which includes insurance for entry level tournaments and club activities. The payment can be split into 4 payments if needed.

We hope for pool sessions to be £25 – £35 per month on a subscription basis, the more that subscribe the cheaper it will be.

For September we are offering a reduced cost of £8.50 per session, payable in advance.

For subscriptions, the first payment will be £35 and will cover September’s pool sessions (3 Sunday’s) and part payment towards membership, we expect that future payment amounts will be known by October.

Subscription payments are on a pre-payment basis and are due before the first pool session of the month.
